A matron’s uniform reflects the fact it is a senior role, re-introduced into the NHS around 2000. The role is varied of course according to the requirements of individual NHS Trusts. But what everyone can probably agree is that a matron’s uniform must convey a sense of authority. As a matron, cutting through ‘red tape’ will be high on your agenda. Specific responsibilities may include maintaining standards of care, improving cleanliness, overseeing budgets and ensuring appropriate staffing.
Of course not all matrons are hospital based. As a community matron you work with patients in the community where you’re involved in planning, organising and providing patient care as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team. Typically you will also be a case manager.
Whichever role you have it’s essential your uniform reflects your seniority if you are to inspire and lead colleagues and generate trust in all stakeholders. At Alsicare we provide a range of matron uniforms which can be ordered ‘off the shelf’ or designed on a bespoke basis if you have specific style or colour requirements. That said, our standard ranges of matrons’ dresses and tunics provide many different options.
For example, our Matrons dresses come in 13 different colour combinations including Step In Panelled Female Dress - Sailor Navy, Step In Panelled Female Dress – Royal and Step In Panelled Female Dress – Sky. All are available in sizes 8 to 28, have contrast piping, 4 pockets and zip front fastening. For comfort they also incorporate vents to the back with action pleats.
Of course some matrons may have different uniform requirements. We also design and manufacture a wide range of matrons’ tunics. Our standard nurses’ tunic is available in a range of plain or stripe fabrics. Plain colours include Sailor Navy, Hospital, Royal and Sky. Likewise our striped tunics come in Blue, Lilac, Grey and Acqua among other colours. All tunics are available in sizes 8 to 28, have 4 pockets and action pleats and vents for comfort.
A Saver Pack of 10 Female Tunics – White is also available and it’s possible to buy mixed sizes at no extra cost.
We also stock our own exclusive range of A-Frame/Move Tunics. These are our premium tunics and are designed to maximize comfort and movement. These tunics are white with a range of contrasting trims available including Burgundy, Jade and Pink. A Saver Pack of 4 Female A Frame / Move Nurses Tunics – Pink is also available. Premium design features include open arm hold vents, internal mesh for ease of movement and a 4 piece back yoke. These are particularly suitable for a hospital environment since they will keep the wearer cool in an above average temperature environment. All tunics are available for free next day delivery if ordered before 3pm.
