Molten Metal Group 2 Aluminium, aluminium bronze, molten minerals (Code D)

Working with Group 2 metals presents its own specific problems in terms of protectivewear, and the fabrics used in the garments must be suitable for this purpose. Wool and the new generation of blended fabrics are suitable for Group 2. Treated cotton should not be used.

Molten Aluminium Splash – performance levels

When tested in accordance with ISO 9185 using molten aluminium, all garments must meet at least level D1. The higher the number, the greater the protection given.

Choosing the correct levels of protection

It is important to choose a fabric with the correct levels of protection for your work environment. A risk assessment should be carried out to determine the amount of protection workers require.

All Alsico Farlane garments for Group 2 also offer a high level of wearer comfort, an important factor which can help to reduce stress levels when operating in a hazardous environment.

European standard

European standard EN ISO 11612:2008 has been introduced to supersede EN 531. Alsico has upgraded the Farlane range of specialist foundry clothing to comply with the requirements of the new standard.
