Choosing the right protection
Farlane Advanced Performance Protectivewear

Safe choices in so many situations

As an integral part of Alsico Laucuba, Farlane is one of the most respected manufacturers of specialist protectivewear in Europe. Nobody knows more about high risks in the workplace and the levels of protection required. Farlane answers these needs with a wide range of garments designed to protect the worker – and the product or process – in a diverse range of applications and industry sectors.

Advanced fabrics to work more safely . . . and comfortably

The choice of fabrics and finishes used in Farlane garments includes some of the most technically advanced in the world. As a result, the garments often offer a degree of protection above and beyond that required by the relevant EN standard. At the same time, they offer exceptionally high performance qualities that pay off in long-term cost effectiveness. Wearer comfort also contributes to safety, allowing operatives to work under less stress and concentrate fully on the task in hand. Our garments are manufactured in fabrics that are comfortable and breathable, without any compromise in the garment’s protective performance characteristics

The fabrics we utilise are tested and approved by the leading independent Test Houses throughout the UK and Europe. Before we include them in our portfolio, we also test them in industrial situations, and process them in commercial laundries to assess their suitability for the garment rental sector.

Multifunctional protection to meet evolving legislation

Industrial techniques are constantly changing, and legislation becoming ever stricter. Therefore employers have become increasingly aware that protectivewear which performs only one function may no longer be adequate. Farlane’s response is to offer garment ranges with built-in multi-functionality. This ensures greater safety and versatility, along with the vital reassurance of compliance with existing and evolving regulatory standards.

What are your obligations?

The law is clear: employers must provide appropriate protectivewear for workers operating in hazardous environments. But what is accepted as ‘appropriate’ will vary enormously from situation to situation – so how can you be totally sure you’re complying with all legislation and directives? For complete peace of mind, our Consultancy Service will provide you with expert guidance on the requirements in your industry.

If you have any questions call or email our Advice Helpline. If required, we can also visit you on-site to discuss your needs, without obligation.

European standards

The European Standards EN 470-1 and EN 531 have now been superseded by the following:-

EN ISO 11611:2007
Protective clothing for use in welding and allied processes

EN ISO 11612:2007
Protective clothing – Clothing to protect against heat and flame

The old standards have now been withdrawn from the Official Journal of the European Union and these standards can no longer be used to certify protective clothing.
